How to take a photo that gives a reliable result
  • Daylight, facing a window. Overhead bulbs are warm and will push the reading warm.
  • No makeup, especially no foundation. It is the single largest source of error.
  • Hair back and off your face, and use the quiz instead if your hair is dyed far from its natural colour.
  • No filter, no beauty mode, and nothing brightly coloured near your face.

What free usually means elsewhere

Most free color analysis tools are free up to the result. You answer the questions, you get told you are a Soft Summer, and then the palette is behind an email form or a payment. Some upload your photo to a server and keep it.

Nothing here is gated. The full palette, the neutrals, the makeup shades, the hair colors, the metals and the colors to avoid are all on the result page, and the same content is on the twelve season pages without taking the test at all. The site is paid for by advertising.

Questions people ask

Is this color analysis actually free?
Yes. There is no paid tier, no email capture before the result and no part of the palette held back. Advertising pays for the site.
Do I have to create an account?
No. There is no account system at all, and nothing is stored about you. Your result lives in the link, which is why you can share it.
Do you keep my photo?
There is no photo to keep. Analysis runs in your browser and the image is never sent to this server. Only three numbers describing your coloring are transmitted.
What is the catch?
Advertising, and the honest limits of measuring color from a photograph. The result is a good starting point, not a certified verdict, and the confidence score tells you how much to trust it.
